Did You Know? PartnerSourcer Becky Rucker Combines Long Drives with True Crime
When your commute to work stretches nearly two hours, you need something to help pass the time and keep your brain engaged. For Becky Rucker, team coordinator at PartnerSource, the answer is a good look at the dark side of humanity in the form of true crime podcasts.
“I’ve always loved this stuff,” Becky said. “I’ve probably watched everything on ID and Oxygen. Maybe it’s my law enforcement background—but I just find it fascinating.”
Becky worked in law enforcement and then spent 15 years as a litigation paralegal before bringing her legal expertise to PartnerSource, where she now helps keep her team in close coordination for the benefit of clients and the injured workers served.
True crime isn’t just entertainment for Becky. It’s a reminder to stay alert. “You think these things only happen to other people—but podcasts make you realize, it really can happen to anyone,” she says. A favorite quote from Crime Junkie host Ashley Flowers sticks with her: “Be weird. Be rude. Stay alive.”
For those just dipping a toe into the genre, Becky recommends starting with Unsolved Mysteries. “Everyone remembers the TV show from the ’80s. Now it’s a podcast, too, and there’s even a Netflix series. It’s not as graphic, which is good for first-timers.”
Despite her love of the dark and twisted, Becky keeps things light in person. Ask her about her favorite pastry (hint: glazed donut) and you’ll see her eyes light up. But don’t ask her to go running outside with noise-canceling headphones—that’s a true crime waiting to happen, she says.
Becky’s top five recommended playlist is a mix of suspense and storytelling:
1.    CounterClock
2.    Murder With My Husband
3.    Dateline NBC
4.    Crime Junkie
5.    The Deck
Bonus: Park Predators – “It’s murders in state parks across the U.S.—it’s wild,” Becky said.
